Stone Island Formula Steel Jacket from the SS94 collection. The idea was essentially to create a fabric with the visual character of metal, but the weight and movement of nylon. Formula Steel used a nylon shell bonded to a transparent polyurethane film, then exploited Stone Island’s dyeing/finishing know-how to produce that strange shimmering, steel-like surface. This jacket was actually the last run of stone Island manufacturing before art numbers came into the game. This piece features the transitioning Sportswear S.p.A wash tags without the Gruppo logo. Carlo Rivetti had just acquired q00% Sportswear Company S.p.A and had left Gruppo. ART numbers were introduced the following season.
