Nigel Cabourn Mainline Slow Vintage US Deck Jacket

Nigel Cabourn Mainline Slow Vintage US Deck Clip Jacket from the AW12 Slow Vintage collection. Heavily inspired by 1940’s US Navy Deck clothing. During WWII, the US Navy introduced deck hooks when zippers frequently jammed, froze or even corroded from the salt water and ocean spray. Deck hooks were created to allow sailors to easily fasten & unfasten whilst wearing thick gloves during harsh sea weathers. Cabourn reimagined the deck hook onto a more casual, modern cotton fleece jacket, making it a comfortable everyday fit. The garment was made from a fine knotted fabric roving onto a vintage TSURI Machine. These machines were originally imported from Europe to Japan and could produce only 1 meter of fabric per hour. Now that’s Slow Vintage.
