Nigel Cabourn Authentic Ventile Aircraft Jacket from the SS12 collection. inspired by mid-20th century RAF flight gear and WWII ground crew jackets. Military aviation jackets from this era needed to be short enough for a pilot/crew member to sit comfortably in a cramped cockpit which explains the boxy fit. The taped seams mimics the internal structural reinforcement found in vintage immersion suits and extreme weather gear. Early military survival suits used heavy taped seams to remain completely airtight and waterproof if a pilot went down over the ocean.
