The design inspiration behind this Army Gym tee is a blend of mid-century military physical training (PT) gear and 1950s American collegiate athletic wear. The exact inspirations behind its design elements reflect Cabourn's personal archive of over 4,000 vintage garments. The uneven texture and washed-out finish mimic the look of fabric produced during wartime material rationing. Because high-end dyes were scarce during conflict eras, garments faded very rapidly under sun exposure and heavy washing.
