Stone Island Stripe Spell Out T-Shirt from the SS97 collection. Inspired by 19th century Naval uniforms, the Breton stripe motif was originally introduced in 1858 for the French Navy, the horizontal striped block design served a functional purpose of making sailors much easier to spot if they fell overboard. Paul Harvey shifted the brands aesthetic slightly, introducing bold spell out typography integrated into the sailing stripes.
