Stone Island Heavy High Collar Knit from the SS99 collection. The heavy vertical rib-knit pattern mimics traditional mid-20th-century British Royal Navy and European marine deck sweaters. These were engineered with dense, thick ribs to withstand harsh sea winds while maintaining flexibility. Although designed by Paul Harvey, who took over design duties in 1996, this garment heavily retains the founding philosophy of Massimo Osti. The focal point is purely functional - using a heavyweight knit technique typically reserved for winter wear to create a breathable, unstructured transitional piece for a spring collection.
