Stone Island Cotton Fleece Sweatshirt from the AW98 collection. During this exact era, English designer Paul Harvey took over the creative direction from founder Massimo Osti. Harvey leaned heavily into utility. The visual identity of this piece relies heavily on the brand's pioneering industrial garment-dyeing technique. The inspiration here was to mimic the natural, rugged weathering found on vintage military field canvas or heavily used maritime gear. By dyeing the organic cotton fleece after the piece was fully stitched together, the dye collected uniquely along the ribbing and seams.
