Stone Island Garment Dyes Nylam Parka from the AW97 collection. Stone Island designer Paul Harvey focused heavily on re-engineering utilitarian gear into futuristic, industrial garments. Harvey experimented with fusing different materials together. He took a run-proof nylon jersey knit and bonded it directly to a semi-stretch nylon mesh using a specialised polyurethane resin lamination. During the garment dying process, because of the mix of materials used, Harvey & the team accidentally created a beautiful two tone shimmer effect, giving the parka an iridescent touch. The minimalist rugged look heavily appealed to the British Terrace football casuals culture of the late '90s, making it an era-defining uniform staple.
