The design inspiration behind this 1995 knitwear piece stems from Massimo Osti’s obsessed with military utility, maritime gear and functionalism. The oversized, slouchy mock-neck construction directly pulls from mid-20th-century British Royal Navy submariner sweaters. These heavy-gauge knits were originally designed to protect sailors from freezing Atlantic winds, offering maximum neck coverage without the restriction of a full turtleneck.
