Stone Island Stripe Spell-Out Sweater from late 80s. Designed by the legendary Massimo Osti, the aesthetic is heavily inspired by classic Breton stripes and historical French/Italian navy undershirts. Osti stripped away the busy multi-stripe look of traditional sailor shirts and reduced it to a clean, singular minimalist central band, mirroring military stencilling that was used on military equipment, supple crates and naval duffel bags.
