R. Newbold - A Division Of Paul Smith - Military Overshirt from the late 90’s. R. Newbold was originally a traditional manufacturing powerhouse that created durable workwear, emergency uniforms, and miners' overalls. By the early 1990s, the historic factory faced bankruptcy. In 1993, iconic designer Sir Paul Smith acquired the brand. Instead of letting the company disappear, he integrated its classic patterns into his design empire. While the label slowly faded from mainstream British high streets, it was exported to Japan where it became a cult favourite in Tokyo’s Harajuku streetwear scene. It was frequently styled alongside experimental fashion movements of the late 90s and early 2000s.
